Getting Answers For My Stomach Issues

What H Pylori is and how it as well as other stomach issues can affect your life.I know on here I usually focus on the positive side of things when it comes to my fitness and health. From body positivity to workouts, I love letting you all into my tips and tricks. But, sometimes there are health issues lurking underneath that need to be dealt with before you can really see a change with all the good decisions that you do with your body. That is what this post is about.Growing up eating beef my Grandfather raised and vegetables and fruit that my parents grew, you could say we pretty much ate all organic. But I still always had stomach pains. Then when I went to college in Toronto and had to fend for myself with the grocery budget I had in a big city, I had put on 20 lbs in 2 months. I know, that doesn't sound healthy, right? I was living off pasta and Pita Pit and my stomach still always had those painful pangs. By this point, I knew that I was intolerant to milk products but only used that as a second thought when I went to eat.My sister came to visit that fall and after she left, I had a feeling she saw what I was afraid to tell myself. I had gone from 118lbs leaving Nova Scotia to pushing 140. But, again I let it go and kept making bad decisions. Then Halloween came. There was a jean skirt that was too big for me in the summer that I wanted to wear as I was going to be Daisy Duke (the Jessica Simpson version had just come out) I went to pull the skirt on, and it got to just above my knees and then stopped not budging another inch. Then came the tears and the reality. I called my mother sobbing. She agreed that maybe I should join the gym that I was talking about and that the monthly fee she originally thought was too expensive was 100% worth it now.My best friend at the time Kayla, and I started doing everything right. We ate super clean. We worked out at least 5 times a week. But my weight stuck around. I just couldn't get rid of the tummy. I was frustrated but kept plugging on.After Graduation, I worked as a sales rep in Toronto and then decided to move home and then to England. Once I got back on home soil for good, I decided it was time to join a gym again because those extra 15lbs were still there and the pain was getting worse as I got older. Along with the pains and weight, I had extreme bloating and gas. I decided it was time to go to a Naturopath and see what she could do for me. I ended up getting a blood test to test my food sensitivities. It was $200 but was worth every penny. Turns out, I was sensitive to both bakers and brewers yeast, cane sugar, milk protein, mushrooms, tomatoes, potatoes, asparagus, and a few type of grain. Well, that put everything into perspective. I started cutting everything out and healing my gut with probiotics and supplements. The weight started to pour off me and within 4 months of eating only what I was able to as well as the gym, I was back down to 120lbs and super toned and healthy over all. Then flash forward to the spring before I had gotten pregnant with Aubrey. I had gone on a last minute vacation with a guy I had just started seeing to Mexico. We ended up both getting Giardiasis or as most know it as Beaver Fever. It's a parasite that you get from drinking unfiltered water. Anyways, after a month I was clear of it (and the guy) and back to my old eating habits and workouts. Then Rob came into the picture. He was a part of the gym industry so he was totally cool with my healthy eating due to my food issues and he also lived an hour away so I could eat my way throughout the week and then bend my rules a bit on the weekends with him. I was in the BEST shape of my life. The stomach pain and bloat were gone and my body felt healthy. I was at a steady 126lbs and loved the way I looked. As you all know, Rob and I got pregnant with Aubrey 3 months into dating. It was fine, we dealt with it and I still kept up my healthy eating and gym routine. But, then after Aubrey was born everything came back with a vengeance. I was losing the weight but all my stomach pains and bloat and horrible, horrible gas was back. Since then, it has come and gone in flairs and I didn't know what to do. I have lived most of my life with these issues and just got used to it.But, then I decided recently to talk to my doctor about it all. She and I had discussed it after Aubrey was born and a few times between then and Poppy entering this world but we never actually did any extensive testing. She decided it was time to get to the bottom of it all. I already know I have a built up amount of yeast in my body, hence why we try to eat Paleo as much as possible, but that wasn't the issue. I was sent home with a blood req. and a stool sample test.So far, the stool sample test has come back, and I have finally gotten some answers but will be undergoing a few more tests as well with a naturopath to figure it all out. I have been diagnosed with H-pylori, a bacteria the grows in your intestines which can cause SO MANY digestive issues, and usually results in stomach ulcers. I am undergoing treatment to fight it, while getting back on track with my eating. It is difficult with a family to eat properly, but I am slowly making the changes until we have all the answers. The reason why I am telling you my story is because I hope if you are battling with weight issues, digestive issues or anything similar to what I have gone through, you do everything you can to get those answers. Make your doctors give you the tests to rule everything out. Having H Pylori puts you at a greater risk for stomach cancer so even something as simple as that needs to be taken care of.As you know I will be updating you along the way to finding more answers.
