As you scroll through Instagram, everything nowadays is grey, white and overexposed perfectness. It is beautiful to look at and inspired us when we went to decorate our own living room. And, though we definitely made a drastic change from what it looked like before, our monochrome living room is, to be honest, hella boring. With colder days ahead, we know we will begin to spend more and more time in this room with our whole family so we decided to start planning to add more color to the room. A design tip that we use when it comes to any space is to keep the furniture, walls, and floor neutral. We do this so that the style stays timeless but easily be accented.  As you can see from the photos, our walls and floor are white, the couch is a neutral light grey, and the tables are wood and white combined. As they stand at this moment, there is no personality. But, at the same time, this allows for us to add color easily and on a budget, while also switching that up when trends change just as easily.Wild Rosebuds | Adding color to a monochrome living room with colorful art on our gallery wallWild Rosebuds | Adding color to a monochrome living room with a new rugWild Rosebuds | Adding color to a monochrome living room with a new rug, throw pillows and colorful artworkOur first change is adding color in a rug. Don't get me wrong, we love our cowhide and it is super easy to clean. But has no personality in this space. We want something bright, fun and full of life. We have yet to decide on one but take a look at our options below. Do you have any favorites?Wild Rosebuds | Adding color to a monochrome living room with a bright rug

Next, an easy change from season to season is, of course, the throw pillow. Tying in the rug color that we choose, places like Etsy, Ikea, and even Homesense are amazing for affordable pillowcases you can switch up often. Below I have chosen a few that I am drawn to. 1 (1)Wild Rosebuds | Adding color to a monochrome living room with fun throw pillows

Lastly, add color in your art. You know how much we love a good gallery wall, and switching up the prints from trend to trend and season to season is so easy to add color. We turn to Etsy a lot for these as you can get printables for super affordable prices and print at home or take to your local print shop to blow up to the right sized for less than $10. Another place we are drawn to is Minted's new art section on their website. They can help you choose for a gallery wall, and do curate seasonal collections which we are loving for the holidays. We just actually purchased This and This for on our fireplace mantle.
