An Engagement Story: Ours

Wildrosebuds.com: Our Engagement So it happened. After 2.5 years together, a gorgeous little boy, and many memories and adventures, Rob surprised me with proposing last friday. Bursting with excitement is an understatement and after 3 days now of being a fiancée, it has yet to really settle in. Knowing that you all have probably been waiting to here our engagement story, I sit down with a celebratory glass of wine to fill you all in on just another piece of our ever growing love story.Rob had been acting funny all week, with MIA moments (turns out he was down to my parents with Aubrey asking for their blessing), weird texting ( I guess he was making sure my brother in law, who is like an older brother to me was ok with it), and many other out of the normal activities. I thought maybe the stress of the holidays was getting to me, so I brushed it off.Friday came and we both had the afternoon off which meant we could have some long overdo alone time before we had to pick Aubrey up from daycare. We decided to go for a drive. I thought it was my idea......but I guess he had it planned. He secretly was trying to find the road we had our first kiss on.With that, I'll back track a bit. Rob and I met through my roommate at the time. They were close friends and Rob lived out of town. So, on the weekends, Rob slept on our couch so that he could be in the city. We became more and more close, until finally he asked me for a coffee and drive. We decided it would be nice to drive to a local beach about 20 mins outside of town. It was a warm summer night so a walk on the beach would be perfect. Well, we got lost up a back road and decided to just pull over where there was water view, sip our Tim Hortons, and learn more about each other. Before we headed home, he kissed our first kiss, and I was hooked after that.Ok, so to continue with the story, he was trying to find that road with out letting on. We ended up at dingle tower, a familiar place were we have had many memorable, romantic walks and take our little guy to the playground. We decided to fight the freezing air and get out for a walk, passing a gorgeous little waterfall that they have on the ocean front. He told me to go stand for a picture (above), which I did even though I was painfully cold.Next thing I know, he is up by the falls with me pulling me in tight to keep me warm and giving me a speech about all of our highs and lows and how he wouldn't wanna be with anyone else through everything but me. I saw the ring as he opened the box and started to cry very frozen tears. It was perfect, he was perfect. We briskly walked back to the car, while constantly reminding ourselves excitedly that we were engaged. Once there, he lets me know he has a few more surprises. He grabs two dozen yellow roses (my favorite) from the trunk of the car, presents them to me and then tells me to sit back in the passenger seat to get warm. Next, he tells me to open the glove box where I find pink champagne and 2 champagne glasses. Well thought out my love. The rest of the night was spent texting everyone we know we should tell in person before we made it official aka. putting it on Facebook and instagram. Now Comes the slow process of planning. I am all for long engagements so don't expect any big rushes to get everything done, but do expect me to keep you informed with all my DIY and plans as they come to surface.Thank you all for the amazing love you have showed us since friday. we are so excited to become and official family and I can't explain in words what your support has meant.
