An Afternoon At The County Fair

Wild Rosebuds On Taking Kids To The County FairThe other week, our County Fair, The Big Ex, was on. We spent our childhood coming to it each Summer, participating in the 4H competitions with our crafts and rabbits, playing games with our parent's money, and riding ALL of the rides. In high school, it was the perfect date night out with that new boyfriend who had a license and a car.Wild Rosebuds On Taking Kids To The County FairWild Rosebuds On Taking Kids To The County FairWe hadn't been to the Ex since those days, but with Rob working his extra job, and my sister home with her kids the same age as mine, we decided to take advantage of a cloudy day and take the kids for the first time. We parked exactly where we did way back when and entered the fair grounds through the same doorway. It was a little surreal being back there. Everything was set up the same way, games in the same place, and rides in the same place. It was like stepping back in a time portal, but this time instead of being free willed and doing what we want, we had to constantly rope in 4 kids 4 and under.Wild Rosebuds On Taking Kids To The County Fair Wild Rosebuds On Taking Kids To The County Fair Wild Rosebuds On Taking Kids To The County Fair Wild Rosebuds On Taking Kids To The County Fair Wild Rosebuds On Taking Kids To The County FairThe kids were actually on their best behavior and, although we didn't expect how much it cost nowadays for rides, only going on 2, they stayed by our side and enjoyed every minute.Wild Rosebuds On Taking Kids To The County Fair Wild Rosebuds On Taking Kids To The County Fair Wild Rosebuds On Taking Kids To The County FairWe topped the day off by playing a game where the kids got to toss balls into glasses. The ball needed to get into the colored glasses, but the awesome lady running the booth let the kids choose a prize anyways. Of course, the prizes were Paw Patrol teddies and the kids each left with their favorite. Now two weeks later, Aubrey is still talking about it, asking if I remember it as if it happened years ago. His rubble teddy is still in his bed each night, and he wants to go back 'next time" as he constantly says. I love that he got to do this with all of his cousins. We have mounds of family photos with my cousins from B.C to England. Now, we get to create that memory with our kids together on every summer adventure for hopefully the rest of their life.
