Our Traditional Tree Cutting Day

We have been doing this since we were little. My father and my sisters would spend hours hunting for the perfect Christmas trees in all different weather at my Uncles lots. There may have been tears along the way, but, like I talked about last week, it strengthened our bond in the end.Instead of walking in 2 feet of snow like last year, this year, we did it in the rain. But we still ended up with the most beautiful tree and two happy kids. My Dad's brother recently started his own tree lot and although it's not open to the public, We are able to go in and choose our tree each year. He sells his trees at the local Lions Club.There is nothing like a real tree in your home. Even though the needles are messy and downright annoying, everything else is more magical. Whats even better is with each purchase every year you are supporting a family who works on taking care of and shaping those trees for years before they end up in your home for a few weeks. I know first hand as my family are all loggers and tree lot owners. With each tree they cut, it clears room for two more to be planted. Most of these are also run as family businesses like my uncle's whose son also helps with every step of the trees before they make it to you.It's not too late to have a fresh tree for yourself.
