Life Update: The house, the kids, and Our trip to California!
What a summer! To be honest it has been totally rough. We have been non-stop sick....like what in the world, it's summer??? and I swear we are having a spell of the worst luck ever in our family from unexpected costs for our vehicles and homes, to broken bones and lost opportunities. But, there has been a light at the end of the tunnel. Buying this house! I am not going to go into details of the drama of the purchase of the home, because, to be honest, I want to focus on the positives. But, we have spent our entire summer so far working our butts off to get it and are so insanely excited now. We are so excited in fact, that we just moved the closing date up two weeks. That will allow us to have it painted (every room is a different color, queue anxiety), move in, and get settled a bit before we head off to the west coast for just over a week! So, what do we have planned for the house? I am going to be starting a home series of inspiration for each room in the house, but to be totally transparent, it is pretty perfect as is and we don't want to do anything too drastic as we want to maintain the original characters that have been untouched in 101 years. But, kitchens are always nice to update, we need a main level laundry room, and decor will go a long way!The best thing about our journey is that we will be doing it on a family of 4 budget as much as possible. We love accounts like Studio McGee, but realistically, I know so many of you are in the same budget boat as us. Many things will be DIY and at low costs. So, follow along as we do facelifts instead of reconstructive surgery to this beautiful home.CALIFORNIA!!!!!Many of you have reached out wanting to know the details of this trip and we seriously are so darn excited. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity and we are trying to make THE most of being on the pacific side of this continent. Disney Park Canada has asked to send us down and tour DisneyLand and their new park, Pixar Pier for 3 days in September. Both Rob and I have been to Disney world and know that we will have a blast here as well now with our own kids. But, that is a long way to go with 2 young kids for only 3 days, so we extended it. We have decided to hop on a plane to Oregon for 3 days to visit Rob's aunt and uncle, and then back to L.A. for two days of exploring before we fly home. This will be the first real time flying with the kids. They both are over 2 so they will both have their own seats but I would LOVE any tips you may have to help as the trek is a big one.Now lets go enjoy the rest of summer before it has slipped away.
