Poppy's first swim in Kortni Jeane

Today was the day! It looks like Rob finally has a set schedule with Tuesdays and Wednesdays off. This is perfect for our little family because it means a day with Aubrey home from daycare to do something as a family as well as a day for Rob to get stuff done around the house and bond with Poppy. So, today being a family day, we headed to the local hotel swimming pool.

Aubrey has been a fish in water since his first swim in a pool at 6 months old. Knowing how much he loves the water, we wanted to get Poppy used to it as well. At 4 months old, she has only felt the ocean's cold grasp on her toes or water in her bath. This would be fun for us to see if she shares the water gene with the rest of us.

We got into our cute Kortni Jeane mommy and me matching swimsuits and headed for the pool. Aubrey, jumped right in, loving the water. Poppy, I eased in making sure to watch for cues. She loved it as well. It's actually so cool to watch her little legs naturally kick the water as if she could swim if I had let go of my grasp. But, as a baby who hates being cold, she could only stand a good 10 minutes before wanting to be wrapped up in a warm towel. Rob had a great idea. He took her from my towel swaddle and carried her to the hot tub, checking first to make sure the temperature was OK. They sat right down, and as she floated on her back in the warm water, she looked so pleased to be right there at that moment.

Once we saw the hour fly by, we decided to hit the road and head home. We were so relaxed yet energized, vowing to do these pool afternoons more often.It's days like these, I am so happy to have my blog to look back on. I want to never forget a moment with these favorite human beings doing these basic yet amazing activities together as a family.
