Another Weekend, Another Lunch Date
To keep up with our vow to each other to make a large effort to hang out more, Lauren (my closest friend) and I headed to another restaurant I hadn't been to yet the other weekend. It was called 'The Stubborn Goat'. Walking into the location was very surreal for me. Many years back, this building was home to 'Seven Wine Bar', my first job in the restaurant industry. There, I worked as a Hostess off and on for a few years until they closed their doors and reopened as a night club called 'The G Lounge'. It then became the place to go after my shift at the restaurant on the next block. I have literally spent the past 7 years in this building, making close friends, and gaining experiences in both working and person life. The company I had worked for, had sold the building last year to another Restaurant company wanting to grow their business. They opened their doors a few months back. It looked the same as it always has, but different. It was like entering into a alternate universe. The walls were the same but the look and feel to the place had a different air to it. We had brought Aubrey along, but the high bar-top tables throughout the lower level did not read family friendly. The food was great, but for the price, the portion sizes were very small. We had a great time passing Aubrey back and forth as we caught up on our lives and gossip. The weather that day was in our favor. So, after settling up our bills, and re-bundling Aubrey into the stroller, we went for a long walk around Downtown Halifax. It was great. You forget as a mom how meaningful a good chat with your girl friends are. I'm not mom to them. I'm still Katie Rose, and Lauren still looks at me the same as she has for years, as the crazy best friend always getting myself into trouble, but now its a different type of trouble.
