New House Inspo: The Kitchen
As you may have seen from our Instagram stories this week, we are working on our kitchen inspiration board. The kitchen is the heart of the home and we want to make this space feel like the most welcoming and warmest spot in the home. As you can see from the photos above, it is a mismatch of bad newly added elements like that backsplash, with fun old elements like the cabinets. We don't have a huge budget, and certainly not a budget to renovate this kitchen to what we would love the space to look like. So, we are working on small changes that will pack a huge punch. So what do we have in mind?First things first is to remove the upper cabinets from above the stove and that horrible backsplash. We will replace it with white subways tile with a darker grout throughout from counter to ceiling, a proper hood vent, and floating wood shelves. We are hoping this will open up and make the kitchen feel larger.Next, we are adding THIS Apron sink c/o Blanco with THIS fun industrial looking tap. We decided to go with Blanco because they make their sinks out of a natural granite composite which makes it stain free and scratch free. It's a bit more upfront but will last longer and that is our theme with this home. But, with the new sink, we may also need to do new countertops and if that is the case, we will just be doing the IKEA butcherblock counters. Finally, the big change is the cabinet colors. We don't want just another white kitchen, especially when we are painting almost all of the rest of the home white. With a home by the ocean, we are inspired to paint the kitchen blue. With the mix of the blue with the wood, and the white subway tile, we will stay below budget, but change the entire look of the kitchen.Only 1 Week until it all starts and we CAN'T WAIT!
