Whirl wind of a weekend (where calories didn't count)

^^^^ GOSH he's handsome^^^^

What a weekend.... Rob turned the big 32 on Saturday so I wanted to make it special. Friday, he arrived home in time for a yummy supper and a cold glass of his favorite white wine, Dr. Loosen. The rest of the night was spent cuddling as a family because Mr. Aubrey had decided to stay up late. Saturday morning we were woken up at 6:45 am by the party animal wanting to be the first to wish his daddy a happy birthday. It was such an early start but because we were so excited for the day ahead, we were wide awake. I made the birthday boy a delicious birthday breakfast of pancakes (recipe below) and bacon. As I cooked, he made us coffee and baileys. Hey, it was 5 o'clock somewhere.

We spent the rest of the day doing whatever the birthday boy wanted which included mostly shopping. I lucked out at a few stores grabbing some great deals that fit the budget.

That night, I made us reservations to what some people call the best restaurant in the city. It's a place called 'The Press Gang'. Shannon and brad stayed in and watched Aubrey, while rob and I had our first one on one date night since our monkey was born. They showed us to our table when we got there. It was a gorgeous dark alcove cut off from the rest of the place by a red curtain. Candles lit the atmosphere and we finally felt like our lovey dovey selves again. We each grabbed cocktails as we waited for the first of our applies to arrive. Our first plates were baked oysters, as well as a little taster plate involving beef carpaccio, duck, and smoked salmon. It didn't last more than 5 minutes. Next, for our mains, Rob devoured the rack of lamb and I drooled over theduck breast. We both shared a delicious Malbec to go with our choices. Wow, best meal I may have ever tasted. Dessert was a must and of curse it involve a decadent flourless chocolate torte and a creamy white chocolate raspberry Creme brûlée. It al was better than I could have imagined. The courses were a perfect size and we left in the best of moods. It is quite pricey but if you are celebrating something, it's worth it. Before heading home, I surprised Rob by inviting his best friend and girlfriend to join us for a drink at a close by bar. It's was a perfect ending to the best date night ever. We have now decided to make this a monthly occasion but of course to places less lux. Do any of you parents out there do a date night and have ideas?

                                          Happy Fall,
