It was hard. He didn't like the play gym that we had for him, and was getting bored in his bouncy chair as I tried to get things done around the house. Then came time to sleep train him. OMG! We would put him in his crib, and would have to go two floors down to the basement to wait for the two and 1/2 hours until he finally stopped screaming. It was a mothers nightmare. This time, we wanted to try different approaches that weren't hard on Poppy or our head. We always loved the look of the wooden play gyms and finally found one that seemed perfect. With toys made of wood for piece of mind, that are removable to use on the go, Finn+Emma's Wooden play gym was a sure thing. We had to get it. So far Poppy is loving it. She gets so excited when she somehow gets her hands to bat at one of the toys, and it also allows me to get things done around the house without constant interruptions. When we pair it with the Dock-A-Tot, she stays contently put for a good chunk of time.Speaking of Dock-A-Tot, have you heard of these wondrous baby nests? So, the whole concept is that you get your baby used to sleeping in the Dock-A-Tot during co-sleeping, or hanging out around the house. Then, when it comes time to transfer your baby to their own room, you put the Dock-A-Tot in their crib. They are so used to the environment of the Dock-A-Tot, they easily transfer into their own crib without any fuss. So, though we are not at the transfer stage, this nest is working like a charm. Poppy has been living in it when she is not in the wrap. We put it to the test a few weeks ago, when we visited Rob's Mom. Poppy had no problem with naps or sleeping in the playpen at night because she was nestled in to what we now refer as her nook. I have posted her happy as a clam in it on Instagram, and the biggest question is 'Is it worth the money?' YES IT IS! The way I look at it, don't buy the bassinet, take that money and splurge on the Dock-A-Tot.
