I swear paint makes a space have completely different feelings and creates personality in one step.

We are so happy we jumped one the brown wall trend and grabbed this taupe beauty of a color for the walls. Now for a little cream floor paint, a beautiful rug and the finishing pieces to make this space feel more like us.

Trim, some paint and a bedside table is left but to say this was. A very large primary suite with sliding patio doors into our red bedroom just a few months ago, and now is a beautiful little girls room and a hallway is kind of shocking. When you’re in the space, you think it has always been like this and that is always our goal when we renovate. This wallpaper by @anewalldecor steals the show for sure.

Sometimes in DIY, fears take over, and even though you do months of research on how to do some thing properly, you just can’t get the ambition to start it thinking that you could possibly fail.

we never thought we’d be able to pull this off. My whole life laying hardwood seemed expensive and intimidating. When we made the decision to go with white oak to match the flooring that has been in the home for the last 25 years, we were able to find flooring for a great price, but the installation cost the same amount as the wood. We needed to make sure we could do it on our own. This weekend we took it on and I can’t believe it looks as good as it does. And on the plus side, we have enough left over to do the powder room off the kitchen. Now comes the hard part of trying to make the old and new match as close as possible.

Here’s to the next step in creating our dream kitchen.

after wallpapering numerous rooms in the last house, some even 2 to 3 times in the four years we lived there, I went into this home, not wanting to even look at wallpaper. But, Poppy wanted to feel like she was sleeping in the sky, and as the only girl in the family and the one who had to go the longest without a proper room in this new home, we wanted to give her exactly what she wanted. In January I realized that I really needed to cut back on the amount of coffee I drank in a day. I’m guessing a lot of you guys have also experienced this. there’s some thing always weird about moving homes and flopping the same furniture you had in the last house into a new living room. It’s almost like you’re trying to carbon copy. Sometimes it just doesn’t work or feels off. After moving to Star Acre, rob and I knew that we needed to find a nice comfy chair to curl up in for the living room. We had our eye on a loveseat, but with a rectangular room, it just wouldn’t fit. Enter in the 1.5 seat. called BACKSÄLEN by @ikeacanada. She not only fit into our budget, but gave us the vibes of a luxury chair we’ve eyed for years. After sitting in one on the IKEA show room a few months ago, we knew we needed it. But like all IKEA furniture, you’ve gotta watch like a hawk for stock to actually show up. What do you think? Worth the wait?!?

Also comfort level is 8/10 and comfortably fits myself curled up on one side, and our big kids on the other.

Our Bedroom isn’t Peach!!

Both that I have anything against peach. But, rob and I love to go white with everything in a new home to allow for creativity to flow. Plus, that peach felt really dark in here. We have so much more to do in here, we are painting the floors 🫣 don’t hate! New shades are on their way, and a few more finishing details link painting the trim a contrasting color.

Our new @loloirugs Sorrento collection rug in the Midnight/natural is the showstopper now that the room is white. It’s so soft on the feet first thing in the morning and the color makes our space feel cozy even with the high ceilings. What do you think?

I have always dreamed of a big bay window. The kind at Christmas time the tree stands proud in, and in the spring, and summer is full of light to sit and look out. Just taking advantage of finally having one while my new kitchen is completely ripped apart for electrical.

We started the upstairs even before we closed on this house, ripping up the carpet just a day after getting the keys, planning out every possible new hall configuration and crunching the numbers for what we realistically could do for flooring up here. But with Christmas, once we did Aubrey’s floor in his room, we had to put everything on hold. Having visitors from out of province made us get into crunch mode. I’m so proud of myself for tackling 80% of this upstairs by myself with Rob helping in the hard parts and using some of the bigger tools for cuts. I also in the process learned how to wire lights and outlets. Guys, I am almost 36 years old and I can’t believe the things I just took on and accomplished. This is your sign that you can do it too. You have no idea how many times I’ve had a DM saying how lucky I am that I have a handy husband to renovate our house. I am very fortunate. He is unreal, and so talented, but let this show you that you can pick up the tools and do it too, even without much knowledge.

We finished the floors yesterday just in time for friends from out of province to arrive so today was a much needed mini vacation around our neck of the woods, hitting up our favorite places and showing Nova Scotia’s splendour.

Here’s to 2023 and taking time to recharge when you need it!

In honour of 2022 coming to a close, I’m resharing our most liked Photo of the year.

To say I miss this home is an understatement. I painted that laundry room green right before last Christmas on a whim with many of you telling me it was a bad decision. Yet, I still love it and miss that space dearly. I know this home will be great, but it will take time. Who’s ready to follow us as we make this home feel just as cosy in 2023 as our last?

On this day 7 years ago, we told her moms to meet us for lunch, and Rob told me that he would handle the rest. All I had to do was show up with my hair done make up done and a dress on. On that day, a day that was always my favorite (Christmas Eve eve) I made the biggest best decision of my life. I promised to spend the rest of my life with the person who feels like home. Marriage is HARD. and we have had many seasons where it’s been harder than others. But with each fight, I know you’re it @wilddecoelisphotography because instead of feeling mad, I’m just wanting it to be over so I can have your hugs. I love you. Happy Anniversary my love.
