3 Simple DIY Valentine's Home Decor Projects That are not tacky
I will be the first to admit that I have never been a Valentine's Day fan. It had always seemed like a let down. Or, focused on my mom as its her birthday. Once I started Dating Rob, it became that time of year where he'd get grumpy because he literally despised the whole shebang.
BUT...then we had kids, and it seems as though every holiday has become a big deal in their mind, as well as an excuse to decorate the house. But, we wanted to create things that event so wasteful like those plastic things you could get from the dollar store. Instead, I'm bringing to you 3 simple DIY Valentine's crafts you can do with paper or thrifted items to add a little love decor to your home.

Fabric Heart Ornaments
What you Need:
- Scrap or thrifted fabric
- scissors
- Sewing needle and thread or sewing machine
- Stuffing
- thin ribbon
- Paper
- Pencil of fabric pen
Directions:
- Create a Heart stencil on your paper and cut out.
- Use stencil to trace hearts onto fabric. You will need 2 hearts for each ornament you are wanting to make. I want 5 ornaments so I am cutting 5 hearts . I used scrap fabric but you can find some beautiful fabric from thrift stores.
- Once you have your hearts, place 2 together right side in and pin a loop of ribbon at the top, folded into the centre of the heart.
- Begin to quick stitch around the edge by hand or sewing machine making sure to leave a 2 inch space along the seam to stuff.
- Once sewn, flip fabric right side out and begin to stuff with your stuffing until the desired fullness
- Take your needle and thread and whip stitch the opening closed.
- You are done. We stringed the hearts onto a string and used them as a garland on our fireplace but you can use them however you want.
