Our Lagostina Copper Pots: One year later How we feel about them
Following a blogger, you get to see a lot of unboxings and new to us items with reviews of them in little to no time. We love the ability to be able to share new things with you that you may never have known existed, but we also are learning after 8 years of bloggings, the value in a true review after months if not years of use of those products.
In the summer of 2019, over a year ago now, we were gifted Lagostina’s Hammered copper pot set for a campaign. They were the pots of my dream and even though I had plans to invest in them at some point, I finally was able to have them in my kitchen. We loved them so much and shared them right away with you, even though we had only owned them a few weeks.
Last Christmas, after 5 months of daily use of the pots, we still could attest to their quality and shared them again as we knew they were worth the investment. Now, it's been over a year. What do we really think?
I will start by saying, a love for copper comes with so many benefits, but also a bit of work. We were so happy that we had donated our older pot set when we received these as it really made us be able to truly review the pots in action. When investing in a pot set like this, you want to be able to use them as your daily pots, not just to sit pretty on a shelf. We’ve done that with these. From steaming broccoli for supper, to good ol’ mac and cheese for the kids on the weekends, these pots are our go-tos.
So what have we noticed?
We found that they boiled water faster, cleaned up easier and the set came in the perfect sizes for any meal we might prepare. We’ve baked them in the oven, used them over our gas range and have even a few times, during busy weeks, left them in the sink dirty for a bit too long, and they still look just as I always pictured them.
After a few uses and washes, the bright copper slowly faded, the shine dulled, and like copper does, it began to develop a matte greenish hue to it. That where the work comes in. To us, we call that patina. But that's also what's great about copper. All you need is vinegar and sea salt and a scrubby or their cleaner available at Kitchen Stuff Plus. Within minutes, your copper will be back. The shine won’t be there like it was out of the box, but the copper that remains tells a story of all the family meals it has so far been there for and the quality and years it still has.
We just got their new Roasting pan and this holiday season, as well as the winter months to follow, we are excited to use something that looks “special” in our everyday holiday cooking, thanks to the italian craftsmanship that gives the collection its quality.
This black Friday, with their copper collection, they are making it easier for you to gift the set to yourself or someone else by giving you over 70% off the regular price of $1699.99, now for $499.99. That's an INSANE deal and trust me when I say you won't regret it. They also have way more great deals so head to Shoplagostina.ca to see them for yourself.
If I have learned anything from 2020 it would be to make everyday, with just your family a special occasion. Use your good china and pots as your daily ones so that you can spark joy in yourself and your family. It's the little things that add up to make your life a bit better when there are many things you can't control.
