Our Bedroom Makeover
Funny story.
When we move to a new home, our first thing that we do is paint everything white. It allows us to see a blank canvas and let our creative juices flow about ideally how we want it look and feel. A perfect example of this si our bedroom. Before Rob had his heart surgery, we needed to get rid of the peach walls we had inherited and go white so that he didnt go crazy staring at pink while he healed. BUT, with the slanted and vaulted ceilings, white felt bland and cold in the space.
We walk together most mornings after we get bthe kids to school so that we can plan out our day, talk through creative ideas for different work project, all while getting our steps in. While on our walk a month ago, we brought up how we both didnt like the feel of our room and wanted to go more dramatic. As we walked, we talked about what color we'd want to see in the space and we both agreed, the dirt on the shoulder of our road was our insporation. Have you ever noticed that its a really pretty color taupe? or just us.
We right away ran to the building supplies and started hunting for the perfect taupy beige 'dirt' color. After 7 samples swatched on our wall and leaving them there for a few days to see how it reacts to the light, we finally decied on a Color, Farrow & Ball Light Grey, which is NOT grey at all. Rob has been picking away at painting it, and before he started painting our white trim to match, making it monochrome, let me tell you, we both thought we made a huge mistake.
We didn't!
With the whole space being painted the same color, it feels warm and cosy without feeling dungeon like with the slanted ceilings. WE ARE SO HAPPY!
Next up, painting the floors so that the wood flows from the rest of the upstairs.
What do you think?
