Our Master Bedroom Update

The Wild Decoelis | Master Bedroom Update | reading nookWow, so this has been a long time coming. As parents, we never put ourselves first. Add in the fact that we were parents before we even lived together, our master bedroom in all three homes we have shared over the past 6 years has always been a mismatch of hand me downs, mattresses on the floor and things that didn't fit anywhere else in the home. The space was a downer, to say the least. The Wild Decoelis | Master Bedroom Update | sitting area The Wild Decoelis | Master Bedroom Update | sitting area in bedroom The Wild Decoelis | Master Bedroom Update | sitting area in bedroom with saje diffuserThis Fall, we decided to do something about it. Our bedroom has a weird set up and has two french doors where a deck used to be. On top of that, the dors are the only wall in the room where there aren't any baseboard heaters. If you have those in your house, you will know that having a baseboard heater by your head in the dead of winter wreaks havoc and we kept waking up to bloody noses from the dryness it caused. The only solution was to put the bed in front of the french doors. That way it both gave our sinuses a break, as well as stopped the kids from trying to use the doors.Besides moving our mattress situation, we were inspired by Endy gifting us a king size mattress to review. The mattress came, and we slowly started redecorating. First thing first was to get a bed frame. Neither Rob nor I had owned a bedframe in years and we wanted to make sure it suited our style and home. We teamed up with Bed, Bath, and beyond for the frame and ended up working with them to create a sleeping space that felt bright, airy and relaxing. The Wild Decoelis | Master Bedroom Update | Baxton studio King size bed The Wild Decoelis | Master Bedroom Update | white night stand from Bed bath and beyondNext, we needed to brighten up the overall space. The floor in our room is a very high shine dark wood. We absolutely hated it so we invested in a very large area rug to hide as much of the floor as possible. We went for a rug with teal and blue because we wanted to add some color to the space since we went so neutral with the bed area. the 9x12 fit perfectly and has now become a place for family cuddles and laundry folding. The final completed space so far in the master bedroom is a seating area. If you saw our HGTV feature, We did have a sectional couch in this area. But, it was only because that was the only place it could fit when we got our new couch. Rob really liked having a place we could go-to to take business calls when the kids were home, and with the launch of the YouTube channel, a space to film if we are just talking. We teamed up with Wayfair and they gifted us these beautiful chairs to add a punch of color and bring out the colors in the rug.The Wild Decoelis | Master Bedroom Update | white nightstand from Bed bath and beyond with pharmacy light The Wild Decoelis | Master Bedroom Update | white nightstand from Bed bath and beyond with pharmacy light and vase The Wild Decoelis | Master Bedroom Update | white eyelet duvet cover The Wild Decoelis | Master Bedroom Update | white nightstand from Bed bath and beyond with pharmacy light and vase with expandable tabletopWe still aren't finished. Before we can say that the room is complete, we want to replace the hand-me-down dressers we currently use, with a matching white set to go with the room. We also need to figure out additional storage. But, the goal is to have everything done before the Summer. What do you think of the new space?
