Yesterday marked 4 years as a mother and today makes 1 year as a mother of two. In those years, I have grown from a girl in her early twenties with no real direction in life to a confident woman with a vision. I could say it was the 5 years in between, but, I know its because of my children.

To My children, thank you for everything that you have taught me.

You taught me patience. Before you, I had no patience. But, through long nights, slow days, and creating your independence, you taught me to take a breath and be ok with time passing.

You taught me to control my temper. I was full of rage until you showed me that you reign this life and I need to be ok with things not going my way.

You gave me back my imagination. With each pretend cup of tea and empty box, you’ve reminded me how fun it is to pretend to be in our own perfect world. Because of that, you influence how successful I am in my life.

You gave me a purpose. Before you, I was lost. I didn’t know why I was on this earth and what I should be doing with my life. As soon as I looked into your eyes, it assured me that you were the reason I was still here.

You gave me direction. Having two Diplomas and moving around the world, I couldn’t figure out what to do with my life. I was never happy in the paths I had been walking. But, writing about you in this public journal made me realize that I love to write, I love to support and I love to share.

And above everything else, you taught me how to love unconditionally. I was afraid of being hurt and built a wall. You knocked it down, allowing me to see what I had in front of me, teaching me to to love every little thing about you both and your daddy and wanting to protect you with my whole heart.

Thank you both for choosing me to be your mommy. You make me so proud. From the moment we wake up, to last kiss of the night, you make me the happiest of them all.
