This has been my view all day as we fight day three of whatever weird stomach virus Em has caught. It was very Monday, with having coffee run out, and a sick babe. I’m ready for the weekend and hopefully healthy family.

I knew I always wanted to be a mom. I was the litt

I knew I always wanted to be a mom. I was the little girl who carried dolls around till I was probably way too old. But, I will admit I didn’t choose to become a mom when I did. It was like Aubrey knew Rob and I needed him to come and show us how good life can be and what we both were missing. Two surprises, a loss, and a planned sweet baby later, I now stand as a mom of 3. A COMPLETELY different person than I was 9 years ago. They changed me, molded me into the person my 8 year old doll totting self only dreamed of and I still can’t believe I’m here. Every day, I get to experience a love that so many want but might not be able to have. I never take it for granted. And, even though I’m currently laying with my baby as he sleeps next to me fighting the stomach flu, I know that mothers day is a celebration each and every time my kids say “love you mom”. Happy Mother’s Day to all of you whether you are mom to your own children, pets or even just a motherly figure to your friends. You all deserve the best today and everyday.

One design feature I don’t like about our home:
Our kitchen is in the centre of our home. I get it, it’s central for us all to gather, but having our kitchen literally in the centre of our home in all aspects doesn’t allow for windows to watch the kids outside or natural sunlight. But, we make the most of it and love the place we are in.

Two words that seem to go with everything in my life now, from clothing all the way to the type of facial tissues and bathroom tissue we use.

Remember that time we went Black on our exterior and shocked you all?

We live in a sailing village on the coast of the south shore here in NS, where the majority of homes are white cedar shake. But why blend in when you can stand out?

I stumbled on this photo this weekend and remembered how proud I was of us talking this all on our own. Also, those lavender trees on the table are making me now want more. Looks like a trip to the garden centre is in order.

Yup, I’m that token mom who lives for Spring Cleaning and purging. Who’s with me?
This time, as you guys know, we have been picking away at switching our house cleaning products for new and more sustainable ones. I have been to a few @norwex parties and was
always super interested in their products. I finally have my hands on the Safe Haven 5 set to get us started. What I love about them is that it’s a cloth instead of a product, so less waste to the environment and no chemicals. Plus, when they are too dirty to reuse, you just toss them in the wash, hang to dry and they are ready to be used again. With April only days away, we are knee deep in planning our exterior landscaping plans. A pea stone grace patio is definitely a must! We love this one @camellaslloret and I have to admit I’ve literally spent hours taking notes from all their IG posts of the space.

Although it is now too large for this space, we are planning on using it in our parents renovation (check out highlights) and to help us style the tv space in their new flex room we are have been working on, I got to work with @mobiliacanada new web tool that allows you to design an entire room using your room’s measurements to make sure not only do the pieces fit, but that they make sense placed together in scale. This has been a game changing tool for our designs for personal use as well as our clients and I had so much fun figuring out what would work with our Nims sofa.

Our new rug!!!

With the new floors, we decided to go bold. I’ve always loved Persian rugs and this @ruggable One gives off those vibes so perfectly. We never weren’t really able to do bold rugs in the space as our floors were a reddish orange color. Now that they are light wood, we really wanted to go more different than we’ve ever gone before. What we love about Ruggable is that they are worry free. With the space being our front entry into our home, we wanted something we could easily clean mud away from, especially with Zeus around. But, also something that wouldn’t be a punch in the gut if the kids spilt on it, got sick on it, or as of this moment peed on it. 🙈🙈. Showing a more close-up look in my stories. Still so in awe that this piece of history is in our home. It’s one of those things that every time I look at it it takes my breath away even three weeks after getting it.

Rob and I have bought a lot of things on Facebook

Rob and I have bought a lot of things on Facebook marketplace, Kijiji and from antique stores. And in that time, every once in a while we stumble upon an epic piece. But we usually end up being too slow or the piece is far out of our budget. This year, on my birthday, this dresser came across my phone within the hour of the person selling it posting. We somehow lucked out as being the first people to offer to purchase it, as well as being able to pick it up the next day. This piece is one of those that stays in your family for a lifetime and I can’t wait to look at it everyday.

Who knew 105 could look so good?!

when we first purchase this home almost 4 years ago, these floors were one of the things we knew we wanted to change. But with the way that the boards were laid, it was extremely intimidating. But, with it being so red, it caused us to really deter away from some design choices as to not clash. I’m so happy we finally bit the bullet and Rob took on this challenge. I know there’s many of you who want to do the same so in the next week I’ll put together a blog post in detail of how we did it, how much it cost and if there’s anything we learned in the process. They may not be the cool oak floors everyone loves, but the patina of these cannot be replicated. What do you think?

Wow!!!

We are still beginners when it comes to refinishing floors, only having done one room prior. Because of that, so many of you urged us to hire someone for this space due to the age and lay of the 105 year old flooring. Well we said screw that, we can do this and learn as we go. That’s what DIY is truly about. Swipe to see the before. This room is now so much bigger and lighter and it only cost us $300 total. Now to seal it before my anxiety about the state of the rest of the house drives me 🥵

Can you believe the only difference in the two photos is the uppers are removed and new countertops? I mean yes we added shelves and backsplash and paint but the biggest difference has always been what you take away first. We didn’t have the budget for new cabinets like many of you so we made what we had work and invested in changing what didn’t.

The best news for two WFH parents just came through…this kid Is heading back to daycare later this week!
Meanwhile, I’m working on this little corner and think I’ve found the perfect chair for this little desk. We are thinking of keeping it this natural color, or do you thing we overhaul it? Let me know in the comments.

I don’t know who needs to hear this right now, but the first day of spring is only 42 days away (that’s less than a month and 2 weeks).
Tulips are in the grocery store and next week in Nova Scotia we are having plus temperatures. I’mma gonna sweep these blues right out the door.

So many questions about this chair. Yes it’s the @ikeacanada Stocksund in green. It’s being discontinued this summer which breaks my heart but am so happy we scored one. Now the question is, do I stick to the green or order @bemzdesign cover for it? Also this room and plans for it over on the blog. Go take a read if you are into that.
