A Mic Mac Mall Date With Shrek
A few weeks ago, Aubrey and I were lucky enough to be two of the 300 people that Mic Mac Mall invited for a special viewing to Shrek The Musical at Halifax's Neptune Theatre. Having always loved the theatre both on stage and in the audience, I jumped at the chance. Aubrey, being only 2 and 1/2 had me a bit worried about how he would react to it all. He had never been to a play or even a movie theatre before. And, as you would know from my previous posts, this child DOES NOT sit down. But, we headed there, having watched shrek that morning so that he would get excited about what was to come.Mic Mac Mall is so great for its family focus and we felt that warmth as soon as we entered the theatre. There, we were given our seats and had some time to run off energy and stock up on sweets from the candy table. All while dawning our Shrek ear headbands of course. Upstairs, they had face painting. This was another first for Aubrey, but the girl was very quick and he did great. Finally the show was about to start and we headed in to grab our seats.Aubrey lasted almost till intermission, He hadn't slept well the night before and couldn't get comfortable on my lap now that the belly takes up most of it. So, we had to leave as all he wanted to do was lay down. As for the Play, It was fantastic. The set design was awesome and the characters and costumes, AMAZING. Having had the movie so fresh in my head, they did a fantastic job bringing it to life for us.Thank you Mic Mac Mall for providing us with a day of firsts. Those memories, I'm sure will last us a life time.
