Keeping Our Communities Safe with Allstate Canada
Growing up in the country, off of a highway coined one of the most dangerous highways in Canada, safety while driving has always been stressed in our family. From the best snow tires as soon as the first sign of winter was here, to my parents spending lots of money and all the contraptions for us to be hands-free since we were allowed our first cell phones. Safety while driving is just ingrained in me now. We have always been the last to be plowed out and in a part of the province where wells are our water source, salt isn't allowed to be used in most areas. This makes you more cautious of your winter driving and making sure you and your car are at their best.
Once I became a mom, I found that all of those small worries became heightened. From speeding to driving at night, I started lessening the situations that I put myself in. I now swear by my cruise control, I limit my driving at night to only in good weather and only when I have to, and I really take road conditions into play when I plan my days out of the house. I think really the secret is knowing your weaknesses and working on them. There are so many accidents each year that could have been prevented if people just didn't push themselves in driving situations they were not comfortable with.This December, I am teaming up with Allstate Canada to spread the news on the launch of their 10th Annual Safe Driving Study. They tally up all of the stats on collisions and accidents across Canada, then create a list of the safest and not so safe places to drive in the country based on the collision frequency rate. It is so great to know where your own community lies so that you can work to fix the issues, but also when you are traveling. That way you know what to expect and where to have your guard up a little more. 
Allstate Canada is starting something new this year, which is why I am so pumped to work with them on this program – #AllstateTakesAction. They have a call for submissions out for Canadians across the country to submit ideas and safety issues that you would like to see fixed in your own community. They know how important a safe community is, especially when it comes to driving and they are dedicated to helping make our communities safer. Next year, they will take all of those submissions and a winner will be selected. Allstate Canada will work with the winning community to implement a solution.When large companies actively take part and give back like this, it seriously warms my heart, especially around the holidays.
