Aubrey And Poppy's Royal Birthday Party
l find it so hard to swallow the pill that my kids are a year older. I still remember bringing Aubrey into the world in detail. 27 hours of labor, 2 shots of morphine, and finally an epidural at hour 21. I remember the doctor asking me if I'd like to touch the head after 2 pushes had him crowning. I remember the awkward laughter that happened when my fingers touched the gooey soft head. That same laughter spread through the room to Rob, my mother and sister and ended up shooting Aubrey straight out of me. It was a hard but magical moment, bringing a baby into a room filled with so much love and laughter. Now, four years later with two babies, we had never given Aubrey a proper birthday party. With their birthdays being a day apart and two days before Canada day, we decided to start a tradition in our family. Each Canada day, we will throw a huge birthday bash, a combined party, and it started this year. We had to come up with a theme. Something that was gender neutral but special enough for our babies. We came up with the idea of a "King and Queen" theme Royal Birthday party.. Thanks to Etsy Canada's small shops, and Dairy Queen, our vision came to life. With gold everything and crown decorations, it looked perfect. But, with us never having thrown one of these parties before, we were consumed in the day and didn't take very many photos. We staged a little cake smash photo shoot for Poppy the next day. She very neatly took small pieces of cake at a time to her mouth. It was the cutest and we even got a shot of Aubrey trying to help. He is such a good big brother. Here is what we used for the party:
