A Letter To My Unborn Daughter
My Look: Dress
Dear Sweet Princess,Tomorrow is a big day. After 8 months of having you growing in my belly, we will get to see you once more on a big screen to figure out where you are in there and when you will be coming. People keep asking if I am ready, and each time I reply yes. It's funny though because I never thought that I wanted a baby girl. I remember how much trouble my sisters and I gave my parents and how much pain I had to go through as a teenager and in my 20's because I was a girl. I didn't know if I wanted to take that on. But, when I found out I was pregnant, I knew it was you from the beginning, before the doctors could even know. You were there and meant to be.We were so scared to lose you, having wanted you for what felt like an eternity. But, after many tests and ultrasounds, the good news sunk in that you were hear to stay. Soon you will be in my arms and will have a loving family here to welcome you. Your daddy can't wait to have his little girl, and your big brother constantly reminds us of all of the things he wants to teach you. But, even with this amazing family welcoming you with open arms, life will be tough because your a girl. So, there are some things I want you to know.
- Don't ever let the boys tell you that you can't do something because your a girl. I fished with your grandad, built furniture with his tools, and played hockey with the boys at recess. There is NO SUCH THING as a girls thing and a boys thing.
- Wear all of the party dresses when ever you want, no matter the occasion and always TWIRL until you fall down. You will never feel more free than seeing that skirt puff up around you.
- Remember that you are beautiful! Even if you feel soft, or have to wear glasses, or braces or have a huge pimple. Your soul will always be the the beautiful girl we got to rock to sleep and kiss good night. and that is what truly makes you who you are.
- Don't judge your worth by the amount of men in your life. I had gone through this myself, and trust me, focusing on you is when you will truly see the amazing person you are.
- Be nice to everyone. Your Nan taught me this. There were never the cool kids and the kids I never talked to in school. Everyone has amazing qualities. So, take your time to learn why each person who comes into your life is special.
- Talk to us. As parents, we will be here no matter what. We want you to know we are your best friends, your cheerleaders, and your backbone. You may hate me in your teenage years, but every decision I make for you is because I remember the lessons that I learned from the mistakes that I made and am trying to save you from the pain that those lessons caused.
- Trust your gut when it comes to boys. And, if one is trying to belittle you, walk away.....always walk away.
- Follow your dreams. Don't let me or anyone else tell you they are unrealistic. You can do ANYTHING!
- Remember no matter what fight we have I LOVE YOU, I have loved you, and I will always love you from the bottom of my heart, forever and ever
As we count down the hours to see your face and learn your future, I start to get butterflies because I now know that I have wanted you my entire life. You were meant to be here and to teach me new lessons. I am ready.
