My Review Of The Nikon 1 S2
Back in November I teamed up with Nikon Canada to test out and review their new Nikon 1 S2 camera. Being a DSLR lover through and through, I was up for the challenge of broadening my horizons. When it arrive, I have to admit I was pleasantly shocked. This small little camera with and awesome 30mm lens was white, I mean all white. It looked more like a fashion accessory than a camera. The size of it was perfect to fit into most purses without a struggle as well. With all these amazing looks, I thought, there's no way that it takes photos like a DSLR. So, of course, I went out and started snapping. There are no Dials on the external camera like your usual one. They are all chosen on screen. Those features though are pretty fantastic. You can control tons of things from the brightness of the photo, to the amount of blur and depth in your background. Did I mention that you can also buy different lenses for it? Like a DSLR, Nikon is bringing out lenses for different uses that you can interchange depending on what your shooting.We shot everything in those two weeks. Aubrey, objects, and Outfit posts were tested. I found Aubrey was a bit hard to shoot, even on the action setting. But, in the camera's defence, that child does not say still. Objects were great to shoot. Rob took many photos for his cigar posts, having fun, playing with the effects and lighting. Outfit posts were also pretty good. The camera did a better job at adding depth and blurring the background compared to my 55mm lens, but still didn't give as great of an effect and look as the 35mm lens on my D3100.Because Aubrey and my blog posts make up the majority of what we use our camera for, we still prefer the Nikon D3100 with portrait lenses. But, if you are a beginner in photography, looking for a great compact camera while you are traveling, or for fun photos on the go, then I would highly recommend that this is the camera you buy. Its light weight, high functioning, and sleek looking, and your photos will come out great.
