Why I Am Giving BBG A Second Try
Ok so you might remember 3 years ago, after I had Poppy, I was trying to figure out how to gain my confidence back. Looking back, I most definitely had Postpartum Depression. I was trying many different programs that were quick and easy to get me working out at home.
It was about weight loss yes, but it was also about the fact that I am a very very active person, always have been, and with the total scare of losing another pregnancy, I spent my entire pregnancy with Poppy sedentary so that I wasn't to blame if something went wrong again. I had totally lost who I was as a person.
One of the programs that I tried was BBG. It was back before everyone had apps. instead I had found a free download of the program online, had it printed at staples, and binded into a book. It was Kayla Itsines' first edition of the program and I found that I didn't receive the results I wanted and saw on her Instagram page. I will also add that it was in the middle of winter, I was depressed, and not eating as healthy as usual and not doing the LISS portion of the program. I wasn't a huge fan of the repetativeness and I think I was just finding excuses to not like it.
Well, Now that we are stuck inside, gyms closed, and pretty much the world shut down around us, I needed to get moving. I had been trying the gym since 6 weeks postpartum and was stuck. My body hasn't changed much since 5 months post Emmitt and I again don't feel like myself. So, I took this opportunity for the last week and 1/2 to share with you some at home workout videos Ive been doing to switch things up from the weights with both pilates and Yoga.
But, as I was sharing these, I started researching other HIIT programs. I have been a long time Tone It Up girl but I wanted something that would work on my schedule but with a built in plan of what workout to do next. TIU has a schedule and you just tune in when you want, or you guess at what you want to do from their On Demand Program.
So, I started looking into BBG again. They now have the programs revamped so that they are easier to do at home with less equipment and way more variety than my printed booklet. Not only do then have multiple trainers, but you get to choose the program that you want depending on what type of workout makes you happy. I decided to give the original another try.
So, for the next 12 weeks, I am going to be documenting, how I'm feeling, changes to my mind and body, if any, and take you along my second try at this BBG thing. I might do some video for it weekly so keep your eye on our YouTube and Instagram.
