Back To Work I Go
Today was a hard day, with a very hard beginning. Waking up at the crack of dawn, I tried to squeeze in one last morning snuggle with Aubrey before rushing around for my first day back to work. Yup, mat leave has finished and back to work I go. I rushed to get ready while my mom watched Aubrey. We have been staying here this week so my mom and sister can watch him before my daycare starts. After getting ready, I got to spend a relaxing 15 minutes enjoying my coffee, watching Aubrey attempt to eat breakfast.It was time to go and Aubrey could care less that I was leaving which made it that much easier on the head. I got in the car and hit the highway to begin the hour long journey to Halifax. With 1/4 tank I knew I could make it to the half way mark before I needed to stop for gas but that plan didn't work. One exit down and my mother called to say I had forgotten to leave the car seat. Back I drove to drop it off (thank goodness I left super early). Once I was back on my way to work, I realized I needed gas more than I thought. By Tantallon, I had no bars left, but......my wallet was in Aubrey's bag with him back home. So with a bit of a freak out and crossed fingers and toes, I pushed on praying that I could make it to work with out running out on the side of the road. I did! And Rob, being amazing stopped by to bring me money to put gas in my car.The morning flew by and by the afternoon, it almost felt like my life had never changed. I was back at work where not much had changed, and still knew how to do everything. I would catch myself thinking about how different life has been the past year with Aubrey controlling it all. In the office, I was the pre baby Katie again and I'm not sure if I liked it.Once I got back to mom and dads, it was bedtime with a cranky non napped boy. He laid there in my arms, not moving and inch, just happy I was finally there. It was just the end I needed to assure me that he still loves me.Katie Rose xo
