Mommy night out
Wednesday night, I got the night off from staying inside nursing my sick little boy to head to the Mills Fall fashion show. Aunty Shannon stayed home with Aubrey. That's what sisters are for, right? I was supposed to go with friends but after 3 cancelations, I decided to go it alone. I threw on my new silk brocade Club Monaco pants from a previous post with a loose black tee and dressed it up with my LV inspired Tahari pumps. It was nice to do something fun just by myself, me time. When I arrived to the store, they had yet to open the doors but outside was champagne and hors d'ovres for us as we waited. Once the doors finally opened, the seats quickly filled up and with such an amazing turnout, I ended up seatless until right before the show ( May have thought the champagne and door prizes were more important) as they tried to accommodate us all. The show was great. Instead of models, they used friends, family, and customers which made us able to see what the clothing would look like on real people. The ladies modelled many different brands that they carried, a few of which were, Paige denim, BCBG, Michael Kors and Canadian lines like Judith&Charles and Dennis Merotto( I sat next to him and didn't even realize until after his line showed). There was also a local designer featured named Laura Corkum and her line Lady Lamb. It's edgy urban with lots of detailing in the seaming. She's a graduate from our local design college, and won the opportunity to showcase at Mills. She's still new on the scene but I'm sure with more experience she can go far.
After the show, they stayed open for an extra hour serving more champagne and chocolate and allowing shopping tax free. I lucked out with a great leather cutout tee from BCBG. I can't wait to put it to use. I had a great first night out by myself, thanks to Mills and I can't wait to do some fall dreaming there.
Happy Fall everyone,
Katie Rose xo
