Our Cozy and Welcoming Family room
So, you've probably seen our laundry mudroom by now. The thing is, we essentially created it from stealing 1/3 of our massive, awkwardly slayed out family room. That meant that our family room needed up having to be totally reworked as well.
First thing that we did when the wall was officially drywalled, was to check to make sure our Mobilia Nims couch still fit. And with a little arm strength, it fit with no space for wiggle room on either side. I feel like that perfect fit give it almost a custom look in the room and serious snuggle vibes.
With no ceiling lighting in either downstairs living rooms, we were lucky enough wire in 2 Riley sconces by Mitzi in old bronze to add some light into the space without taking up any of the now smaller floor footprint. What we love about these sconces is that they had the option to be plug ins or wired. That makes it great if we ever decide to move them to a different space without wiring for them. Plus, during nights of watching the tv in here, they give there perfect amount of light to the room.
Our next addition to the room was a Rugs USA Maui jute rug we had been gifted by a friend during Renos and it worked perfectly. Unfortunately, just is a bit hard on the legs when the kids were playing, so we layered the Faux Sheepskin Octo Pelt rug from Rugs USA on top back in November to give it all of the cozy winter feelings.
Next we wanted a table that was completely kid and baby safe. With three kids, they use this room as a jungle gym, so that meant nothing hard or with corners. This leather ottoman from Etsy was the perfect answer. I will warn you that it doesn't come stuffed but we had so many old pillows, blankets and sheets that we were going to donate, so it let us put them to good use.
For throw pillows, we love to shop around at places like Woven Nook, Cloth and Main, Tonic Living, and Amazon. We mix expensive ones we love with budget friendly ones and I think the all look great together.
What do you think? Could you picture your family cuddling up in here?
