Making Breastfeeding Easier With Medela

Motherhood is hard, and sometime breastfeeding makes it feel even worse. But, with so much research out there proving that breast milk is THE best nutrition for your baby, us moms stress because we want to make sure we are doing it right for our baby.Being a person who is always on the go, I knew that breastfeeding was going to be the easiest for us because there is no need to plan. but, with that means pumping is also something I knew I would be doing. So, when I was pregnant with Aubrey, I bought a Medela Double pump. Medela was my first and only choice having been used in the hospitals since my mother was an LPN in the 70's. It was a great pump, but with us liking to bring it on the go with us, was a bit cumbersome with the large bag attached.With Poppy, we found out about the Freestyle Double Electric Breast Pump. It has a digital screen instead of dials and was just a small little motor that you could easily throw into any bag you needed. with its no battery charging system, it works great for use everywhere and anywhere with no need for a plug near by. And I'm not lying when I say I have pumped in the front seat of our car numerous times since Poppy's arrival so that we could escape at our destination for a few hours and not be parents.That brings me to my next love for Medela, their Calma feeding system. Their bottles are attached straight to the pump and from there you can store them in the cooler bag or in your fridge. When it comes to feeding time, it's as easy as taking off the storing cap and replacing it with their Calma nipple which made both my babies easy to bottle feed with no nipple confusion. Not only is this great for me to allow me to have a break or leave the house kidless, but it also allows Rob and Aubrey to bond with Poppy in a totally different way. And with Aubrey, we continued to use the bottle system with formula after he weened himself off of breastfeeding.Recently, I had been on the hunt for a good app to help me with my breastfeeding. Poppy hasn't been gaining enough weight and my brain is still not all there. on a good day I can't remember what side I fed on last and that whole ribbon and pin thing seems like something I would forget. But, Medela saves the day with their awesome MyMedela app that helps you track everything from pumping and breastfeeding, including the side, to diaper changes. I have been using the app for a few weeks now and truly love how easy it is and am seeing Poppy's weight start to finally creep up again.
