How To: Turn An Old Halloween Costume Into A Scarecrow
We have a future Hoarder on our hands. While digging out our winter gear, we found Aubrey's Robot costume from last year. I wanted to donate it as he doesn't fit in it anymore, but he wouldn't allow it. He was getting so upset and I started feeling guilty. Now, mind you, usually, when this stuff happens, I'll just sneak it into the donate bag the first moment I get when he has forgotten about it, but this is different. Aubrey is obsessed with Robots and introduces himself to strangers as "Hi I'm Aubrey and I am going to be an engineer and invent robots when I grow up" so I think this costume meant more to him than I had realized. Now knowing this, but also knowing that I didn't want a costume just laying around because he wanted to occasionally look at it, I made him a deal. This year we were going to stuff it with paper and use it as a scarecrow for Halloween. He loved the idea. Then, once it has been outside for a month, he will have a better grasp on us having to let the costume go. I just used newspaper and packing paper from mail we had received. IT was super easy!

What you will need:
- Clear elastics (we used the ones that we have for Poppy's Hair)
- Stuffing, paper, newspaper, etc
- Costume
Step 1:take the elastic bands and use them to close off arms and legs of the costume.Step 2:begin stuffing the costume, starting with legs and arms and then with bodyStep 3: Figure out your head. This costume came with a Mask/headpiece so we stuffed it and attached it with bobby pins to the neck.If using a carved pumpkin, use a stick or dowel to put through the torso of the body with a good amount of length still sticking out the neck (8inches or more) cut a hole in the bottom of your pumpkin and put the stick through the hole to stay in place.Step 4:Place in an old chair or on stairs. It is seriously that easy and you have just upped your Halloween decor by like 8 points. We put him at our front door and decorated with some of our pumpkins but it's up to you how you style him. It is such an easy and inexpensive way to decorate for the season.
