Surprising Them Back with Kinder Surprise
With Easter on it’s way, I had to sit back and think about how many Easter’s we have had as parents with Aubrey. This will be our 4th year setting up the carrots and Easter tree and maybe this year, egg dying will actually go well. But then as a mom, we start to get side tracked, going down the memory bank about the good and bad of our kids. We think about all of the hard days that they put us through and all of the good times too.One thing that never seems to get old with Aubrey is how much he surprises Rob and I. That kid is not only caring and thoughtful, but as smart as a whip. He surprises us on so many levels already at the age of 3 that I don’t even know how I am raising such a kid. One situation that kills me every time I think back on it was when we headed to Chester for a drive because Rob was working and I had been stuck with the kids for 2 days straight in the house and needed to get out. I told Aubrey that we were going to go for a cookie. But, as we pulled into town, 15- 20 minute drive from our house, I realized that I didn’t have my wallet and it was sitting in Rob’s car in Halifax an hour away. I started to cry out of sheer exhaustion while trying to explain to Aubrey that we were going home because we didn’t have any money to pay for his cookie. Instead of throwing a fit like he usually would have, he just kept repeating himself, “it’s ok Mommy” followed up by “I have money for you in my toy basket when we get home, I’ll pay for your cookie.” This kid is 3 and ½ at this point. We got home from a very quiet drive and he ran into the front door straight to his toys in the living room. He dug and dug and dug, until finally he pulled out a dime and a nickel and ran them over me staying “her mommy, you can have my money so that you can be happy.” Of course I burst out in tears with poppy on my hip, holding him so hard saying “thank you for being the BEST boy”.How he knew how to handle that situation blows me away. I have no clue how I am raising such a sweet, sweet boy.How do your kids surprise you? Kinder Surprise is giving you a chance to win a $500 toy shopping spree.
